Institutional Space

As a student at the University of Southern Maine, I became interested in the ways in which the people who were moving through spaces designed to be utilitarian and impersonal left their own stamp on the space, whether through obvious and concious means such as the grafiti on a wall, or more subtle, unintended marks of their presence, such as a left behind cap or coat. Home in Harmony

I grew up on a 30 acre homestead in a home my parents built themselves. They are part of the 'back to the land' movement, raising much of their own food and trying to maintain a self-supported sustenance as much as possible. Several years ago, I went for a visit and took a number of photos. View this series
